Membership Dues Have Been Increased
In order to bring in more funds to be used in maintaining and improving equestrian trails and trailheads on the Greenway, we are increasing yearly membership dues. The new amounts are as follows:
Individual - $10
Family - $15
Organizations - $18
There are also two levels of sponsorships available, and we are in the process of getting set up with PayPal so that dues, sponsorships and flat donations can be paid directly online. The new membership application and sponsorship application will be posted online soon. Please check back later in the week. Thank you all for your continued support of GWE and the Greenway. |

A Couple of Important Notices from OGT
This notice was sent May 15th.
Hello everyone,
Thank you all for being so patient with us while we have been working with Shangri la. I just received some information today that the trail head area will be closed down for a short time because construction has started. The reason being is that we have started to dig and horse trailers and vehicles could get stuck or damaged. You can still use the trails in that area but will have to park at 49th (that would be the closest). You will not be able to get water from that trail head due to all of the construction going on, I doubt that you would want to. We wouldn’t want your horses to be spooked by all of the loud noises and equipment. Once again, thank you for your cooperation while we are working to make Shangri la a camp ground. You all have been very patient and I appreciate all of your cooperation.

Greenways and Trails
This notice was sent May 13th.
Hello everyone,
In celebration of National Trails Day on June 7th, 2008, beginning at 8:00 a.m., the Office of Greenways and Trails will join with volunteers from around Florida for a work party on the Cross Florida Greenway. With the help of dedicated volunteers and support of trail user groups, much can be accomplished at the targeted areas of Coyote Corner and a former cow coral south of the Land Bridge corridor.
In the past we have had close to 70 volunteers who participated in the trail work party consisting of bikers, equestrians and hikers. I hope that we can go beyond that number and accomplish a major clean up.
At the end of the morning’s activities, everyone will gather for a “volunteer appreciation” lunch with a special menu. You don’t want to miss this one!
We plan to meet at 8:00 a.m. at the Land Bridge Trailhead before breaking up into groups. Bring some work gloves, sun block and wear some closed toe shoes… Mosquitoes are out so bring bug repellant too… We’re in for a fun-filled morning of working together to help our trails look great and then celebrating our good work with some great food!
Please let me know if you will be able to attend or if you have an estimate of how many volunteers from your group will be able to participate. I look forward to seeing each of you out on the trails.
Thank you,
Bre Ximenes

The existence of the Greenway Equestrians will hopefully
provide opportunities for greenways and trails advocates,
managers, planners, users, conservationists, private
landowners, and tourism and business interests to come
together to support the Greenways for the benefit of
present and future generations of Americans.
